It was just ok. Obviously animation is really good and lots of references and stuff I enjoyed, but this one felt kinda rushed and dense? In my mind, the first one is a better movie since it was a simple and easy to understand story. If you know anything about the first NES Mario game, you’ll like the first Mario movie. But with this movie, it was a hodgepodge of various random Mario games mixed together and it all felt a little half baked. I enjoyed the Game-n-watch cameo and Fox Mcloud as a character, It would’ve hit harder to not know Fox would be in the movie but whatever. A lot of scenes just felt a little unnecessary or uninteresting I guess. The casino scene was cool in terms of fight scenes, but didn’t move the plot foward. The Yoshi and Baby Mario bros scene was also super forced and felt unnecessary, and the middle of the movie kinda slogged down and was very slow. It started to pick back up at the end with the Bowser OS scene and the final fight, I liked the visuals of Peach and Mario going through the obstacle course in NES style. The story with Peach and Rosalina being sisters was eh. To me there wasn’t enough time spent to see the sisters dynamic and having Peach have this cosmic power that solves the final issue is just a tad bit boring. Lastly, am I crazy or is the Daisy post credit the stupidest post credit scene I’ve seen people hyped for? It’s straight up just a ripoff of the Sonic 3 Amy post credit scene. What is Daisy going to bring to the 3rd Mario movie? Nothing. It’s just a stupid way to use a character people love to spark discourse. Who cares if people like Daisy, is this what we want the 3rd movie to revolve around? We could’ve gotten a cool post credit scene hinting at what game the third movie will revolve around, but instead we got Daisy winking at the camera. Whatever, I liked some aspects obviously but this movie was just a letdown
