Readers find 'Le grand feu' a vivid portrayal of 17th-century Venice, blending music, passion, and tragedy through the life of Ilaria, a young girl in the Pietà under Vivaldi's mentorship. The novel's rich, poetic language and historical backdrop are praised, though some find the plot predictable and the writing occasionally melodramatic. The intertwining of love and music resonates with many, while others are left wanting more depth and less predictability in character development and narrative.
